5 Gifts That Will Send Your Cheese-Loving Libra Friends To Heaven
There comes a moment in every soul-searching Libra’s life, where they must ask themselves an all-important question: Is this Instagrammable? Scratch that. That is a moment that happens in the life of a Libra daily, possibly hourly. Libras can’t help it, though. Their position as the sole inanimate object of the Zodiac has them longing for human connection more than the rest of us bulls, scorpions, and mythical sea goats, and they will seek it in any way possible. Instagram happened with Libras in mind. Libras are verily born to be the Influencers among us.
On top of which, being represented by a scale makes Libras the most balance-seeking humans, (not to be confused with the most innately balanced,) which often manifests itself in the pursuit of balancing their physical surroundings, making things not only look orderly, but lovely. “Make it nice, or make it twice,” is a bit of a Libra rallying cry.
I’d imagined I’d exhausted all of the easiest intersections where the zodiac and cheese are concerned: Capricorn/goat’s milk, Aries/sheep’s milk, Taurus/cow’s milk, Gemini/pairing, Cancer/moon, and Virgo/raw milk. For this final installment of celestial cheese picks, however, with Libra it simply comes down which cheese cuties are the most photogenic. Easy, breezy, Libra cheesy. With that, here are 5 gifts for pleasing your cheese-loving Libra friends this season.
Alp Blossom
We’re not about only judging cheeses by what’s on the outside, whether that refers to the packaging, rind, or other external adornments, even for Libra’s keen eye. But you have to hand it to Alp Blossom for being the whole package: beautiful inside and out. (Balanced, you might say.) A rare German cheese, Alp Blossom is a representation of alpage: where Alpine animals are allowed to graze among whatever is available in high mountain pastures during the summer months, which very well may include wildflowers. Alp Blossom, then, with its coating of actual flower petals and complex flavor, is like a cocktail with the perfect garnish: it broadcasts what you can expect from what’s inside.
Truffle Tremor
Attention-seeking Libras aren’t above the occasional thirst trap shot. (Okay, sorry Leo, but Libras may have invented the thirst trap shot.) Cypress Grove’s heady, swoony Truffle Tremor is a thirst trap in cheese form. (I mean, they went ahead and named it “tremor.” Is it really the earth here that’s shaking?) Many bloomies can take a sexy, oozy creamline pic, but few can do it with Tremor’s bright white, goat’s milk paste dirtied up with truffles.
Fourmage
Lest we make it all about Libra’s penchant for style, here’s a cheese to nod to their sense of fairness or balance. Fourmage is a Dutch cheese that uses all 4 of the common milk types: Buffalo for richness, sheep for earthiness, goat for tang, and cow for balance. Now that you mention it, though, she ain’t bad looking either, with that ombre hue, winking eyes, and tyrosine bling.
That Cheese Plate Will Change Your Life by Marissa Mullen
That title says it all, as an aspirational text for social-media savvy Libras, balanced by solid cheese intel and practical staging advice. I fully checked in with Mullen about her breakthrough book, because a story about catapulting to author fame through an Instagram account dedicated to meticulous, gorgeous cheese plates has Libra energy written all over it, right? Alas, Mullen is a Gemini and the book is a Taurus, but as a fellow zodiac and cheese enthusiast she gave her blessing to its placement in Libra. (Check Moon/Mars.)
Gilded Agate Cheese Board
Anyone can assemble an attractive cheese spread on your average wooden cutting board, but lest I’ve inadvertently spun a tale about style over substance when it comes to Libra, here’s a reminder that what’s underneath also counts. The thing about cheese plates is, they are impeccable only for a moment, but then they are meant to be enjoyed, so what’s underneath the attractive cheese display really counts. So for Libra, make it equally gorgeous with this gilded cheese board.
